The FT series DSU/CSU provides reasonably priced solutions for T-1 connectivity. These products deliver digital data at rates of 56 Kbps to 1.536 Mbps over 1.544 Mbps T-1 access lines. Channels can be 56 or 64 Kbps increments, using 1 to 24 DS-0 channels. Set up is easy, using either the LCD front panel or the RS-232 network management port.

. The FT-2DS and FT-4DS are 2 and 4 port fractional and full T-1 DSU/CSU's that include SNMP and Drop & Insert as standard features. All ports have EIA/TIA-530/V.35 interfaces. The multiple port units are extremely useful for connecting multiple use links to a single location. Combining routers, multiplexers, voice and other traffic on a single frame relay or T-1 link can substantially reduce recurring costs. The FT-2DS and FT-4DS are far more cost effective than a full T-1 channel bank.

The FT-2DS and FT-4DS support Drop & Insert. Drop & Insert is used to terminate one or more DS-0 channels of a T-1 at the digital RS-530/V.35 interface of the FT. One or more of the remaining DS-0 channels can be passed on to other equipment, typically a system using voice lines. For example, a single 112 Kbps channel (56 Kbps x2) might be dropped off to support a router, and up to 22 of the remaining DS-0 channels passed on to a PBX for voice lines. It is also possible to daisy chain an FT-2DS or FT-4DS using the DSX-1 Drop & Insert interface.

The FT DSU/CSU's have complete testing capability. This includes front panel LED's dual bantam jacks on the FT-2DS and FT-4DS, and embedded SNMP. The units have full performance monitor information. This includes performance registers, performance history, alarms and alarm history.
