DESCRIPTION

The DCB RS-422 to RS-232 interface converter is a compact 1” high by 2.5” wide by 3” long. The converter is externally powered. It is available in a 6 to 37 volt model and a 36 to 72 volt model. All of these units are high and low temperature rated.

The unit converts RS-232 to RS-422. It can also be used on RS530 and V.35 (transmit and receive data only).

Typical application is from a 9-pin RS-232 device to an RS-422 device. Note that control leads are not passed through or converted.

The RS-422 leads are balanced, with 2 output wires, and 2 input wires. On the interface converter, the green connector is RS-422. Input into the converter is through the RX pins. Output from the converter is through the TX pins.

The 9-pin connector is the RS-232 interface. Pin 2 is Receive Data, data into the adapter, pin 3 is Transmit Data, data out of the adapter, and pin 5 is Signal Ground. All the other pins on the 9-pin connector are unused.

• While DCB can not certify operation in these extreme conditions, this product has been used successfully at very high altitude as well as deep sea applications. They are also used in high vibration military airframes and ground vehicles.
• Power 6-36 VDC OR 36-72 VDC. Some models provided with 120 VAC input wall- mount power supply. Typical consumption at 12 VDC is 5 to 10 ma.
